1. Lucky 13

135 W 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84115

Catching an SLC Bees game then grabbing a burger and drink at Lucky 13 is the recipe for an excellent summer afternoon for Salt Lake City residents. Often referred to as one of the best burgers in the entire state, Lucky 13 has been reviewed by Guy Fieri and a host of other big-name celebrities. My recommendation is to hit up Lucky 13 on Saturday afternoon to try out my personal favorite.

4. Quarters

5 E 400 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84111

One of the newer bars on the list, quarters is the perfect place to release your inner 9-year-old and go wild playing all sorts of arcade-style games. According to their website, two local bartenders decided to chase their dreams of opening their own bar and thus quarters was born. Quarters is open six days a week and is the perfect place for an after-work evening hangout.

Every August, The Salt Lake City Arts Council produces a five-week long concert series that includes a wide variety of genres from indie-rock to hip hop. August weather in SLC generally could not get any better, especially when the sun sets and you’re surrounded with your best buds and over twenty food trucks. This event isn’t just local bands, big name artists have performed, such as Snoop Dogg, Modest Mouse, and Travis Scott.

2. Utah Football Game

451 S 1300 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84112

Football fan or not, the evening experience of a rice eccles standing bumping 45,000 screaming fans is something special. Led by the MUSS, which stands for Mighty Utah Student Section, The University of Utah is notorious for having some of the loudest fans in the county, and you can’t consider yourself a true SLC resident until you’ve witnessed the “holy war” of BYU vs Utah.

3. Downtown Christmas Lights

1. Sapa

Mai Nguyen opened Sapa after nearly 20 years of experience in the food industry. Serving a fusion sushi based on Vietnamese and chines cuisine, it’s no wonder that sapa is one of Salt Lake City’s finest restaurants. Sapa has a perfect event area upstairs for guests to celebrate birthdays, graduations, or any other need to party.

2.Pig & a Jelly Jar

A southern influenced diner that serves breakfast and lunch all day. Pig & a jelly jar is a personal favorite of mine when it comes to those Saturday morning hearty breakfast cravings. In my opinion, Pig & a Jelly Jar serves the best chicken and waffles in town, and don’t be afraid to put hot sauce on the chicken!

3. Red Iguana

Red Iguana has won basically every award a Mexican restaurant could possibly win. Mainly because it is one of the few non-Americanized Mexican restaurants left out here in the state. This delicious and authentic Mexican restaurant will start you out with some excellent chips and salsa.

4. The Pie

The Pie is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving customers since 1980 and now has five locations in Salt Lake County. The Pie’s basement location a few blocks away from the University of Utah smells exactly how a hometown pizza place should smell. Brick walls cover the walls where decades of customers have left their mark by signing their name. The Pie is the local pizza joint that every city deserves.

5. Cucina

Situated in the Eastern avenues, Cucina is a perfect example of a small town restaurant with the owner/chef Joey Ferran walking around and greeting guests. Cucina’s extensive wine list, home-made food and relaxed atmosphere make for a perfect weekday date night.
